Getting to Gdańsk

You can reach Gdańsk by plane, train, ferry or by car.

By plane

If you appreciate high-quality transport services and the time of travel is of importance to you, the best way to reach Gdańsk is by plane. The Gdansk Lech Walesa airport is localized a few kilometers to the west of the center. To get from the airport to the conference venue (Gdańsk Wrzeszcz) or to the center of Gdańsk (Gdańsk Główny) is best to take a train connection. A new PKM railway line, built in 2015, connects Gdańsk's airport with Gdańsk Wrzeszcz. The train departs from the platform nearest the terminal. Not all trains go to the center of Gdańsk therefore a change at Gdańsk Wrzeszcz may be required. Ticket costs 3.80 PLN (0.9 €) and can be purchased from the train manager or the SKM ticket machine at the platform.
If you arrive late evening then it is best to take a TAXI. Neptun Taxi is the official taxi firm and can be trusted. Look out for their cars with the 19686 logo on the side. Be suspicious if offered a lift by any car not bearing their logo.
Estimated taxi cost are as follows:

Day

Night

From the Airport to Hotel Szydłowski

29 PLN (7 €)

40 PLN (9 €)

From the Airport to the Students dorm

33 PLN (8 €)

46 PLN (11 €)

From the Airport to Hotel Wolne Miasto or to Hotel Mercure

56 PLN (13 €)

The third option is to catch a bus (line 210, direction "Gościnna"). To get to the conference venue (Gdańsk Wrzeszcz) a change is required.

By train

This is a fast and economical way to travel. Gdańsk is connected to all major cities in Poland. A quick connection to Warsaw by Pendolino trains is the most important. These trains run about every hour and the journey lasts less then 3 hours. The current timetable is available on the PKP website.

By ferry

Gdańsk and Gdynia offers permanent ferry connections with Sweden. The Polish Baltic Shipping Company Polferries connects Gdańsk with Nynäshamn, the Stena Line Company connects Gdynia with Karlskrona.

By car

There are three main routes which can be chosen to get to Gdańsk: the E28 from the west (Szczecin) or from the east (Elbląg), the E77 from the south-east (Warsaw) and the E75 (A1 highway) from the south (Bydgoszcz, Łódź).
